The credential
Not a claim — a numbered certificate
CCE # 0087 Corvil Certified Expert in Electronic Trading, awarded by Corvil in 2018. Corvil is now part of Pico, who run the programme today.
The CCE is assessed by written and practical examination, with Corvil Certified Administrator required beforehand. It is not a course you attend; it is one you are tested on. Certificates are numbered in sequence, and this one is 0087.
We put the number here because the alternative is asking you to take the word “specialist” on trust. A certificate number can be checked with Pico. An adjective cannot.

- Deployment, upgrades and migration Greenfield builds, version upgrades and platform migrations, planned so that measurement continuity is preserved rather than quietly lost.
- Capture architecture Tap and SPAN design, packet brokers, aggregation and filtering — making sure the traffic you need is actually reaching the analysers, and that you know what it is missing.

- Health check. A short review of an existing deployment: what is covered, what is blind, what the data is quietly failing to tell you, and a prioritised list of fixes.
- Build or upgrade. Scoped delivery of a new deployment or a version migration, with the capture design done first rather than retrofitted.
- Investigation. A specific latency, loss or sequencing problem that needs someone who can read the packets and the platform together.
- Ongoing support. Retained availability for change windows, tuning and escalation, plus handover training so your team is not dependent on us.

What is a Corvil Certified Expert?
Corvil Certified Expert in Electronic Trading (CCE) is the senior certification in Pico’s Corvil programme. It is a hands-on classroom course covering monitoring of trading flows, market-data quality and multi-hop visibility, assessed by both a written and a practical exam. Corvil Certified Administrator (CCA) is a prerequisite.
It matters because Corvil is not a product you learn from the documentation alone. The certification is evidence that someone has configured capture, decoders and instruments under assessment rather than only read about them.
Do we need a Corvil expert, or can our network team manage it?
Plenty of teams run Corvil day to day perfectly well. Outside help is usually worth it at three points: the initial deployment, where capture architecture decisions are expensive to reverse; a version upgrade or migration, where measurement continuity is easy to lose quietly; and a specific investigation nobody can close.
If your team is comfortable and the data is trusted, you do not need us. We would rather say so than sell an engagement.
What does a Corvil health check involve?
A review of what your deployment actually sees versus what you believe it sees. That means capture coverage and tap or SPAN design, decoder and instrument configuration against your real order flow, appliance sizing and retention headroom, clock synchronisation and timestamp traceability, and whether alerting reflects conditions that matter.
The output is a prioritised list of what is blind, what is misconfigured and what is merely untidy — separated, so you can act on the first without being sold the third.
Will you work on a deployment you did not install?
Almost always, that is exactly the situation. Inherited Corvil estates are common: the person who configured it has moved on, the decoders reflect an order flow that changed two years ago, and nobody is certain which links are still being captured. Documenting what is actually there is usually the first deliverable.
Are you affiliated with Pico?
No. We are an independent consultancy. The certification was issued by Corvil, who are now part of Pico and run the programme today, but we are not a reseller and we are not paid by them. That independence is the point — our advice on sizing, licensing and whether you need more capacity carries no commission.
